From appearing and disappearing matter in the quantum world, to a four-year-old child recalling accurate events and factual people from a previous life, to a universe expanding faster than light, we humans are surrounded by strangeness. As the British physicist Sir Arthur Eddington once said, “Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.” By interviewing scientists, experts, experiencers, and dramatizing scenes, “Our Strange Universe” will present the strange to help understand our universe.
The first episodes will focus on the history of our science, what we know, and what we don’t know. What is quantum physics and quantum biology telling us about ourselves and the nature of the universe? How many stars are in our galaxy? How many galaxies are in the universe? Are there other universes? Other dimensions? What is dark matter and dark energy? Is space itself quantum? Can thoughts affect DNA? What’s the probability of our universe being life-friendly?
Most of the series will showcase the strange phenomena we experience. How can a rancher shoot a giant wolf in the chest six times with a 44-magnum and that animal casually walk away and disappear? What is the paranormal? What is extrasensory perception and are all humans born with it? What is the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon witnessed around the world, and what could it imply? Are out-of-body and near-death experiences real? Do we have a soul? Can science prove reincarnation?
As we investigate these mysteries and address these questions, a possible explanation connecting the behavior of subatomic particles in the quantum world and the strange phenomena we experience in our world will become clear: consciousness. The series will close on what we humans know exists but our science at the moment cannot prove. Is consciousness the key to understanding our universe, and it’s only our dependence on machines and measuring devices that inhibits our understanding?
The subtext of the series is: What is the nature of the universe? Who we are? What does it mean? Although we can’t definitively answer those questions, the journey we go on will educate, entertain and fascinate!
The intention for “Our Strange Universe” is to be filmed, one-hour episodes and distributed through an online streaming company like Netflix, Warner Media, Amazon Prime, HBO Go, or Universal On Demand.

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.” - Albert Einstein
When I was eleven years old, I suddenly woke from a deep sleep to find a gray timber wolf standing in my bedroom staring at me. Rising from the bed to my elbow, I asked myself, “What does this mean?”
Illuminated by its own light, the wolf didn’t move. We stared at each other for almost ten seconds and then the wolf became a tiny orb of light. The orb hung in the air for a few seconds and then disappeared.
Fifteen years later, I had a psychic reading with a talented woman I had never met. As the reading began, the psychic had me stand in front of a barren beige wall. She looked at me and said, “There’s a wolf looking over your shoulder.”
This is one of many strange experiences I’ve had in my life. From precognitive events to over twenty profound dreams, I’ve learned our lives are much more than physical. Something deeper and richer is going on, a beautiful mystery.
“Our Strange Universe” is my way of trying to answer the question I had as I stared at the wolf. - John Hacherian
